The Cabins at Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort

  • Learn More About Resort Amenities

Unlike any other Walt Disney World Resort, the Cabins at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort put you in the middle of nature. Sure, it’s not nearly as wild as, say, the middle of the Grand Canyon or the Smoky Mountains, but consider this: The Walt Disney World Resort is perched on the edge of the historic headwaters of the Florida Everglades (although it’s not part of the Everglades).

What does that mean? It means you will see some wonderful flora and fauna, including white-tailed deer, sweeping cypress trees, wild turkey, and towering longleaf pine trees—all from your front porch or through your cabin window. That’s not something any other Walt Disney World Resort hotel can promise!

Fort Wilderness offers several different on-site activities including archery, pony rides, camp fires, and so much more. There’s also a few different pool locations. The Meadow Swimmin’ Pool features a corkscrew waterslide and whirlpool spa. You can also take a dip at Wilderness Swimmin’ Pool, the all-ages quiet pool with a whirlpool spa.

Spirited Campsite

Halloween is always a special time at Walt Disney World. Everyone loves when Mickey shuts down the Magic Kingdom on select nights to throw a “not so scary party”. What many people don’t know is that the Halloween spirit is in full swing every night in October, just across the Seven Seas Lagoon. What many people don’t know is Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort and Campground transforms into a Halloween wonderland that rivals Jack Skellington’s Halloween Town. The most magical part?  The happy haunts responsible for this magical transformation aren’t the wonderful cast members at the Fort, but its happy inhabitants in their tents, travel trailers, cabins, and RVs! Some guest go all out with the decorations. This location can be a popular place to visit around this time of year. This can either be a big pro for some family, and others a con.
